Sopa de Fideos Recipe
Tomato soup, full of golden brown thin pasta called fideo, is like the one they serve at the Mexican restaurants. Make it yourself in just 30 minutes.
In this easy recipe for Mexican noodle soup, fideo pasta is toasted and simmered into a chicken broth full of a blended serrano-tomato sauce.
We had a nanny from Guatemala, who would make sopa de fideos and I loved it. My spouse is from Guatemala and can't cook. This is the closest I have come to the soup of my youth. I toast a half teaspoon of cumin seeds with the fideos and add diced jalapenos.
great sopa fideo! I followed exactly except I was about 10 oz short on broth so I mixed up a cup of calde de tomato and added it. very good. maybe a touch too oniony...I'm ton sure whatnpeople think a small onion is, I used half of what I would call a medium. I wish people would use cups as opposed to "small onion" but not a really big deal. great recipe.
i used one whole yellow onion two cloves of garlic one packet of sazón goya and some adobo 2 chicken broth one beef and 5 sprigs of cilantro after those modifications it tasted just like my childhood :)
Yes, will make again. It was great to have after a long cold day in Chicago. So easy to make. I think I might add a cup more of chicken broth. Next time I might use beef broth too.
This fideo recipe was given to me by my mother in-law. Fideo pasta is toasted, then simmered in a tomato sauce seasoned with cumin and chili powder. It goes great with any meat dish including carne asada. I use this recipe in place of rice as my side dish.
